Hank,
I'm glad it worked for you. I've had a few Fieros and it seems like I've
had to perform this same repair on them several times each. It looks like
the design is such that some dirt gets sucked into the valve. I probably
should have mentioned that you can also put a small drop of light oil on the
shaft that the pintle rides on. This seems to work a few times before you
have to spend the bucks to buy a new valve. It also helps to clean the
pintle seat up inside the throttle assembly.
Only 63k on an 85, that's pretty sweet! Have fun with it!

Post by HankWell I took off the AIC (carefuly)and cleaned it all off re-adjusted
it to an inch and an eight as the books says it ran good for a few
days then started stalling again. So I took off the AIC from a parts
car I got this spring and installed it and it now has been running
great for 3 days also the exhaust has quited down as well, other
people have noticed that too that the past few weeks the exhaust was
louder than usual. More noticable when you down shift or just race the
engine and let go of the gas pedal as the engine reduces in RPM.
Thanks
Hank
Post by PePe_LePu_For2Check the IAC (idle air control valve) on the side of the throttle assembly.
They often get dirty and become slow to respond which causes stalling and or
high idle. It can be (carefully) removed and cleaned.
Post by HankI got an 85 GT 6cyl about a month ago 63K miles its been running good
until the last week now it stalls at intersection when I stop. It runs
fine while I am driving it.
Last night I took it out and it ran great today agian it keeps
stalling when I stop. Help
